Evangelization was the primary mission apart from Education that inspired our foundress, Mother Gnanamma to establish the Society of Sisters of St. Anne, Phirangipuram. .Mother Gnanamma’s association with Father Francis Arokianadhar I C F T, laid the foundation for a Congregation of women devoted to the task of evangelization. The first convent set up at Phirangipuram in 1882 with a handful of sisters quickly grew in number with over 66 sisters by the time it celebrated its Silver Jubilee.. As part of the Evangelization work, our Sisters are involved in preparing children and adults in receiving the first Holy Communion and the Sacraments of Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick and Holy Matrimony. Sisters also actively take part in conducting liturgy and catecheism classes to strengthen faith and morals among neighbouring communities. Pastoral work also involves sisters directly visiting homes to console the sick, assist the troubled, and also help people participate in the Eucharist and prepare them for the administration of the sacraments.
The evangelization apostolate focuses on teaching catechism and inculcating Gospel values in every Christian family , establish unity and togetherness in broken families and uphold Christian morals and values. Community Sisters also contribute to their local Parish by supporting the Parish priests in various duties.
