Charism
“To Proclaim Christ by word and deed as communities of love, at the service of the Church and of the needy, in utter simplicity and full trust in God”
Every Charism indicates a profound desire to be conformed to Christ. The need for fidelity to the founding Charism, is a must for authentic renewal of the Spiritual heritage of every Congregation , in different places and times. The spirit of the Charism prepares every individual and challenges us to walk in the life of communion and in the apolistic works of the Congregation.
Revisiting the Charism of our Foundress will definitely revitalise all our apolistic Works. It serves as a constant reminder to remain faithful to our call and urges us to continue our mission and bear witness to Christ with the utter simplicity of our lives.
The seven principles set forth by Mother Gnanamma for her spiritual daughters are embodied in the charism of our Congregation.
Guiding Principles of CSSA
1. Nothingness of Self
2. Primacy of God
3. Loyalty to the Church
4. Strong Love for her Sisters
5. Zealous Care for the Weak
6. Courageous Perseverance in Service
7. Evangelization
Our Crest
Him We Proclaim
The crest of our institute embodies our motto , “ Him We Proclaim”.
Symbolism behind our Crest:
The Crest consists of the Field, the Horizon, the Tau – Cross, the Vine , Stem nodule and the branches, the grapes , ‘M’ in the horizon , and the wording : ‘Him we Proclaim’.
The Symbolism:
The Field stands for today’s ground reality. The horizon stands for the wide world of God’s love and SSAP mission with universal and ecological overtones.
The cross stands for the SSAP cristocentric spirituality in the way St. Francis of Assisi lived it out.
The vine pendant on the cross is the person of Christ who gives his life perenially on the cross.
The M in the horizon stands for Mary, as well as for the caring and protective mantel of St. Anne.
The stem nodule of the branches , the hidden person and mission of Mother Gnanamma who inspired many and gave rise to at least two Congregations of consecrated life surviving today.
The branch with the bunch of grapes is the SSAP Congregation that is full of vitality and produces luxuriant fruits for the world by its activity emanating from the spirit of Mother Gnanamma , who in turn draws it from the Lord who gave her this mission for the whole world.
The wording, the Word of God incarnated on this earth in Christ Jesus for universal salvation, is proclaimed loud and clear, by every SSAP sister individually and collectively in ‘values, words and deeds’.
Fr. Christopher Coelho, O. F. M, a Francisian Friar of repute was instrumental in desgning the content while the spiritual message embodied within our crest is adapted from Fr. Balaguer’s Message.
